There is a great sample chapter on hacking IIS, which is written more for hackers, but is a must read for developers who manage their IIS servers. It explains AppDomains, Application Pools, ISAPI, and IIS process, and security surrounding IIS. Again, this is written for hackers, so, the interesting piece is the first part of the chapter, which explains IIS; you may want to skip the remaining part of the chapter, which goes into the hacking end of IIS.
